Here’s what happened…

So, I was in my apartment in Barcelona in the summer of 2013, at the end of a new type of intense yoga practice. I had just recently begun to “lose the plot” on my career as they say in the UK. I was profoundly uncertain about what the next step was for me. After years of ease in transitioning from the corporate world to coaching, I had excitedly, but ultimately fruitlessly, tried my hand with network marketing of a nutritional supplement. I realized (and, if I’m honest, had known already) it wasn’t the most inspiring vehicle for delivering my gifts to the world.

There I was, sitting cross legged on my yoga mat and in my mind’s eye, I saw the face of someone I knew from my time living in NYC (10 years prior). She’s a powerful force in the world of self-awareness. And, I had the thought: "Well, what about me? Couldn't I offer something similar to, yet different somehow, to what she does?"

I was immediately freaked out. "But, I don't want to be so visible"..."I don't know if I've got what it takes"..."My life, as it is, is very comfortable"..."This seems like too massive of a change"..."Where would I EVEN begin?!" I went from excited to uncomfortable very quickly. Can you relate? Have you ever seen some compelling future and then, almost immediately after, experienced that fear to move out of your comfort zone? That desire for more/something else matched by a kind of terror about the unknown?

But back to the aftermath of this “vision”. I was smack dab in the middle of one of those moments that I've seen countless of my clients struggle with. I was quickly burying myself with dis-empowering questions, doubt and all kinds of reasons not to move forward and touch off a chain reaction of changes. Even though I had so many tools and models and methods to empower myself, I just didn't know where to start. I was walking a tightrope between the past and the future and I could not see how to get myself across the void. I was frustrated and unsatisfied, not making as much money as I wanted to make AND I wasn't getting any younger.

If I had stayed in that questioning/doubting mode, I just would not be where I am today. I knew some change was being required of me to expand my fulfillment, but I didn't know how to take the first step.
